Policy FAQ's:

I reserved a boat, but now the weather is bad today, what are my options?

You can either cancel & reschedule depending upon availability. If you do not want to rent on the day of reservation due to weather, you do not have to & there is no penalty. However, once the rental contract is signed and the transaction paid & you accept the rental of the boat for the day, there is no refund except in special circumstances.

What about cancelations or changes in my reservation date?

Make sure you contact us as soon as possible to any change of plans so that we can best accomodate you for boat availability. A $25 cancelation fee will be charged within 2 days prior to your reservation date.

I damaged a propeller on my boat & did not realize it when I was enjoying the lake, am I still responsible?

Yes. Unfortunetly, the propellers are regularly damaged and is the most common damage done to our boats. As much as we provide information as to the hazards of the lake to our customers, prop/rock strikes still occur occasionally. Our boats are carefully inspected as often as 4-6 times a day- once in the morning before they are rented at the start of the day's business, once when you are present and being briefed while an employee jointly inspects the boat with you, once when you return and the boat is again inspected with you present with an employee, and one more time before the close of business of the store for the day.

It is our policy that during inspections the propellers are given special attention, and our boats will NOT be rented unless they are serviceable. Propellers that are questionable to you upon your inspection prior to you signing the departure inspection sheet will be immediately replaced by our employees before your departure.

How much will you charge me for propeller damage from my deposit?

We generally will not charge you the entire deposit amount for propeller damage, only the actual cost of replacement. You are entitiled to taking posession of the damaged propeller if you choose after you have paid. Not all damaged propellers can be rebuilt, and often the damage can be less obvious and they can't be re-used even after the blades are re-conditioned (the center hubs can come unbonded from the drive splines, for example)- and even then, they can only be reconditioned 2 or 3 times at most. The turn-around to recondition props is about 1 week, and costs average about 75% of a new propeller- if it can be repaired without unforseen problems.

What if I do substantial damage to my rented boat?

Our previous policy was that your deposit was your deductible for damages & any damage costs beyond the amount of your deposit was covered & you would'nt be charged beyond that amount.

However, begining this year we have changed this policy but have lowered the security / damage deposit amounts. Now your deposit is not your deductable amount & you may be charged beyond this amount for excess damages. In most cases you can claim damages beyond the deposit amount under your own homeowners insurance policy if you have one. Having such an insurance policy is up to you.

My son/daughter has a valid boaters saftey certificate. Can they operate the boat?

Yes they can operate the boat under the supervision of a legal adult (over 18). However, you are ultimately responsible for the saftey & operation of the boat. They must also have the certificate in their posession while they are operating. If they forget to bring it, they cannot operate the boat.

What ages of children are required to wear life jackets at all times on a boat?

Children 6 years old & under are required by law to wear an approved floatation device at all times while on-board a boat. However, it is highly suggested that children up to age 12 & those that cannot swim also wear a floatation device at all times for their saftey as well.

I used nearly all the fuel on my boat & I'm running low, and I need to get more fuel, what can I do?

If you are nearby, you can stop at the Park Store & request additional fuel- it will then be noted on your rental paperwork & you will be charged for the total usage upon your retutn og the boat at the end of your rental time. Another option- on the north side of the lake, there is fuel available on the water at B&B marina and you can fill your tanks there out of your own pocket.

If I have a problem on the lake with the boat, what can I do?

It is highly suggested that you bring a cell phone with you while you are out on the lake so that we can contact each other if needed. There is adequate cellular coverage on the lake of all the major carriers. If you have a problem with the boat during operation, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can come to your aid. Make sure you give an accurate location of your whereabouts to us so that we can find you as quickly as possible. If it is an emergency, call 911 or Gerrish Township Police, or the Sherrif's Marine Patrol at (989) 275-5101.
